SJ: Hi Bianca! We’re so excited to sit and chat about your music and your journey!
BJ: Thank you for having me!
1. SJ: You’re a Cuban-American artist originally from South Florida, but currently live in LA, and have performed your music all over the United States! Can you tell us what first inspired you to pursue music?
BJ: Since childhood, I’ve always been drawn to creative expression. Music was my first love, but I also found myself enjoying dance, photography, writing, acting, fashion, painting, and more. As an adolescent, I enrolled in professional vocal training where my potential was really nurtured between my educators and family; this led me to record demos, perform live, and to become an independent artist! I quickly became entranced with the catharsis that performing my own music provided – it was clear to me almost immediately that I was created for this. I have an immense amount of gratitude to those who believed in me from the start and helped me realize my purpose.
2. SJ: You describe yourself as an "indie rock singer-songwriter with an insightful message to advocate for peace, empathy, and unity." Can you tell us a little bit about your drive to create such a powerful message and movement with your music?
BJ: I truly believe in the magic of music and collaboration. If we can shift our perspectives from competition to highlighting each of our unique talents in a collaborative way, everyone can thrive. Whenever a listener tells me how my music has impacted them, my drive grows even stronger. I want everyone to feel they have a life worth not just living, but loving too.

3. SJ: You just released a new single, “I Am Mine.” What inspired you to write this track? Can you tell us your songwriting process behind the track? What was the recording process like?
BJ: This song came straight from the cocoon: it symbolizes a pivotal era of my life where I re-awakened to the strength of my own identity. The image we hold of ourselves is the most powerful tool we carry: too many of us become blind to our own individual beauty and talent. Writing this song for myself felt like waking up from a haze, into a world clarified by truth. While recording, there was a sense of magic in the studio - like we were casting a spell while laying the tracks down. If this song is a catalyst for someone to wake up to their own worth as well, then I’ve achieved my goal.
4. SJ: You have already accomplished so many things like having your voice featured on the Japanese video game Memento Mori, being on the Kelly Clarkson show, and winning Best Music Video & Best Vocal Performance during IndieCon 2019. What do you feel has been your biggest accomplishment so far?
BJ: I am so grateful for all the highlight moments of my career so far. It’s really hard to choose just one, but one that really jumps out was packing a theater show to raise funds for the Inner Truth Project (a non-profit in Florida that provides resources & support for survivors of abuse). The ability to use my platform to serve my local community on a large scale created a deep sense of accomplishment for me.

5. SJ: What is one song you wish Bianca Jazmine wrote?
BJ: "Try A Little Tenderness" by Otis Redding. Right from the start the sentiment expands something in my chest, and the slow build is incomparable. It’ll always be one of my favorites!
SJ: What’s next for Bianca?
BJ: Releasing my single “I Am Mine” has been my primary focus – I’ll be booking shows and creating a music video for the track! More songs are on the way soon too – stay tuned for upcoming releases!
